NICE TO MEET YOU
I'm Dr. Abi Blakeslee
I like to think of myself as a collaborator. The heart of this work is enhancing life force.
Through inquiry and the shared wisdom of tens of thousands of students and mentees, I’ve cultivated the ability to synthesize and teach universal healing principles that consistently deliver results.
Knowing we can make the world a better place guided me through two beloved graduate programs—a Ph.D. in Clinical Somatic Psychology and an M.A. in Counseling and Depth Psychology. This foundation has been invaluable in my role as senior faculty for Somatic Experiencing International, where I’ve also had the gift of mentoring closely with Dr. Peter Levine for decades.
Over the years, I've also created my own modalities, Implicit Psychotherpy and Up-Level Dream Work.
Implicit Psychotherapy
Implicit Psychotherapy offers a proven approach to help clients access non-conscious memory and reshape the predictions that drive lasting change.
Up-Level Dream Work
Years ago, I discovered when dreams entered the room, everything shifted. One client’s existential anxiety ceased after processing a recurring nightmare after a single session. It blends science, embodiment and practical skills for lasting change.
My Studies
The deeper one studies, the clearer it becomes that the mind–body split is an illusion.
To unearth this understanding, I’ve studied a wide range of somatic psychological approaches, including Bodymind Centering, Hakomi, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Bodynamics, Feldenkrais, Reichian Therapy, Bioenergetics, Integral Somatic Psychology, and Polyvagal Theory, among others.
My promise to my students and clients is to distill the best practices across modalities—clinical work and healing can be not only effective, but engaging and empowering.

Developing Implicit Psychotherapy
Decades of study, research, teaching, and clinical practice led me to develop Implicit Psychotherapy, grounded in my original research with Dr. Daniel Siegel on my dissertation committee.
Implicit Psychotherapy provides a structured, field-tested approach to work directly with implicit (non-conscious) memory.
By shaping non-conscious memory through new implicit learning, therapy creates a rare shift: Changing what your clients expect, automatically and beneath awareness.
Implicit psychotherapy can be seamlessly woven into all major psychotherapeutic modalities - from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Systems Based Therapies, Somatic Psychology, Psychoanalysis, EMDR and more.
My Commitment To Embodiment
I am committed to bringing embodiment skills into everyday life. Let’s expand purpose, connection, and capacity!
Embodiment for all can help us create a world where we grow together and cultivate meaning.
There is nothing quite like the creative moment when challenge shifts into healing, and we glimpse what is truly possible.
